5 Reasons Why Glamping Is A Great Activity All Year Round
Throughout 2022 I’ve done more glamping than ever before, as it’s such a great weekend escape and offers so many different options for accommodation. I’ve done everything from shepherd huts and cabins, to converted containers, wigwams and yurts, and each one comes with different things that make that particular stay so unique. There’s still a good few glamping experiences I’ve got on my list still to enjoy, including treehouses and glamping domes.

Hypedomes – a New Level of Comfort and Design
Hypedome glamping pods are a new and exciting glamping opportunity, and for anyone with land to spare they should be on your radar as a unique accommodation offering that’s sure to attract many happy glampers like myself.
These beautiful clear and mirrored glamping pods are a new way to get so close to nature, you’d literally be within touching distance and blend right into the environment, giving such a memorable experience.
They come with various outer shells and finishes, are fully insulated and have window panels, floor bases to build on and different floor coverings. If you have land you could put it to good use to start your own glamping business, or perhaps you already do and are looking to expand your accommodation portfolio. With so many features with comfort in mind, they’re ideal for year round glamping.
I used to think that glamping was just a summer activity, but that definitely came from being naive to just how luxurious and comfortable glamping can be. It’s such a step up from camping and puts all the luxuries of home into a more exciting, new accommodation.
Although glamping in colder winter months is very different to in the summer, it can be just as fun and there are different positives that come with it.
The type of accommodation your glamping stay includes can make all the difference to your experience, but there are some things that they all have in common too. These are my top 5 reasons why glamping is a great all year round activity.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors…Comfortably
There’s no doubt that glampers enjoy it so much because of the environment you’re in for a few days. Glamping sites are often found in beautiful natural areas, rural land, with stunning views and plenty of opportunities for some outdoor adventures and the slow way of living. Picture campfires and toasted marshmallows, stargazing, and waking up to the sunrise. Although many people enjoy getting outside for walks, hikes, running, paddle boarding and any number of other outdoor activities, it’s always nice to know you have somewhere comfortable to return back to, and that you’ll get a good night’s sleep.
The additional space that glamping accommodation provides allows for those extra comforts that are lovely to know are there. Proper beds, seating areas and futons, an indoor table and chairs, small fridge and even power and heaters too in some cases.
This country is lucky to experience seasons, so glamping at all times of the year offers different nature experiences and scenery. Make the most of it, throw yourself into it, but ultimately know you’ve got a warm bed and cosy place to call home too.
Glamping is Dog Friendly
We got Arthur almost three years ago now, and one of the main reasons was our love of the Lake District and UK outdoor weekend breaks. Having a dog was the next natural step to make our trips away even more fun (and necessary!), and since the pandemic there are more UK holiday options than ever before.
Glamping is the perfect balance between hotel stays that can sometimes be more nerve wracking with a dog in case of the noise, and more basic camping trips where you are confined to smaller spaces. All of these factors are heightened even further for younger dogs that need more entertaining, you have to keep more of an eye on them, and you take more stuff away with you for them.
With unpredictable weather in the UK all year round, glamping gives you more room for looking after your dog and you have a lot less worry about people around you – because there are none! You don’t have to stress about muddy paws on carpets in hotels or the noise, as the majority of glamping sites are remote, and tend to be wooden or tiled floors.
More Space, Shelter and Unique Quirks
Which leads me on to the fact that you have more space and shelter, which especially in the rain or wind can be a life saver. Space inside a tent can become soaked, or clogged up with waterproofs and wellies very quickly, and be so much harder to keep dry.
Due to the significant extra space that glamping pods provide, anything like this can be brought inside but not encroach on your living space. Glamping spaces have kitchen and dining, living and sleeping areas and easily encompass all of those with space to spare.
They can be decorated with soft furnishings to make them more homely, and be made from much sturdier materials that protect from the elements, keeping you warm, dry and cosy inside your glamping space.
The best thing about all the varieties of glamping pods is how different they are from each other, and many have unique features to them that can be enjoyed. I’ve seen everything from outdoor showers and bathtubs, to hot tubs, pergolas, tree swings and beautiful themed exteriors like woodland huts or unique log cabins. No two glamping places are the same and that’s part of the fun.
You can Switch Off… to an extent!
One of the biggest draws of glamping is that it offers up an opportunity to completely switch off if you choose to. Idyllic, natural places don’t always have signal, so you can really make the most of this for a digital detox.
Of course many places are so photogenic you may use your phone to snap some pictures, but if you’re wanting a secluded, remote getaway where nobody can reach you, glamping offers the chance to do just that.
This isn’t for everyone, so some glamping places do offer wifi, for those who don’t like the complete disconnect that glamping can bring. That’s OK too, especially if your way of relaxing is to put on a Netflix show and chill.
It’s more Accessible
Real camping experiences can be tough going, physically and mentally, so glamping gives a more accessible option to people who may struggle with camping, but so they don’t have to miss out on the experience. Touches like being able to boil a kettle, use a bathroom or have a real bed to sleep on can mean people who may never want to go camping, can still have that outdoor, rustic experience too.
What’s really obvious in all of these points is the additional flexibility that glamping gives, so that you get the best of both worlds. This is the draw for a lot of people, especially me because you can go as natural or rustic as you like with the slow way of living – lighting fires and cooking outside for example, and you can have the luxuries too.
I also love the different types of accommodation and what they offer. From houses on stilts to yurts I’ve really enjoyed all my experiences glamping this year.
Hopefully more places will begin to introduce Hypedomes to their glamping offerings, as it would be a great option for anyone looking at how to start a glamping business. They could be turned into the most gorgeous, comfortable glamping pods with unique selling features such as panoramic views, stargazing opportunities at night, and ideal in both summer and winter due to great insulation and ventilation features.
With pre configured glamping pod bundles they could be a really great way to get started with a glamping business, without having to wait ages for building work on huts or cabins to finish.
Without a doubt the best bit is they tick all the boxes for glamping all year round, and guarantee a memorable, exciting glamping experience for guests. I’d be first in line to visit!
