Dog Friendly Pubs In Tynemouth
A pretty coastal town would be nothing without a good selection of dog friendly pubs to enjoy for a pint after a beach walk, some good food, and even the sport that’s on the TV. Tynemouth is no exception, and as one of the most visited North Tyneside coastal towns year round, there’s plenty of choice. Here are the dog friendly pubs in Tynemouth.
If you are visiting Tynemouth with your dog for a beach walk remember that King Edwards Bay, and the southern end of Tynemouth Longsands don’t allow dogs through the summer months, just the top end of Tynemouth beach. Tynemouth Priory allows dogs on leads year round and they’re welcome at Tynemouth market on Saturdays and Sundays too.
These dog friendly pubs in Tynemouth are all great to stop at whatever the reason for your visit to the village.
Allards
On Front Street Allards is a very popular food spot and bar, and it’s split into two halves: the bar area which is walk-in only, and the restaurant where you can reserve tables. Dogs are welcome in the bar side, from breakfast right through until late when it’s a bar.
They serve a great brunch menu, as well as a huge range of tapas or main meals for later in the day, and they have an extensive cocktail menu which is always changing with new specials being added. Dogs are made very welcome, sometimes with treats, and there’s plenty of water bowls outside too.
Lola Jeans
Famous for their multiple award winning burgers, Lola Jeans can be found through the archway from Front Street, and they are dog friendly throughout. It becomes a busier bar at night, but through the day is more relaxed and casual. The first Lola Jeans venue, with another in town now too.
Pleased to Meet You
Branching into Tynemouth, Pleased to Meet You is where Hugo’s used to be and opened in early 2022. They allow dogs inside in all areas. It’s quite busy at weekends but there is plenty of seating, with high tables in the bar area and normal tables up on the raised area too.
Platform 2
A micro pub in Tynemouth metro station, Platform 2 serve up a range of craft beers and ales, as well as wines and other drinks that you can enjoy from the outside tables that are still under cover on the train platform, or inside.
A very popular spot, and they expand their outside area at weekends once the market has finished. A great one for a casual drink with your dog, or as part of the North Tyneside metro station pub crawl.
The Priory
A no frills but popular pub on Tynemouth Front Street, that often has live music and acoustic sets on, as well as a good big menu and they’re very welcoming of dogs. They can be in both the bar area and the outdoor seating area where there are always plenty of water bowls. They don’t even mind them on the furniture as long as you put something down or ask for a blanket.

Head of Steam
A pub with a big range of beers on Front Street, Head of Steam is popular for a drink at any time. Dogs are welcome here, and along with you they can enjoy Pieminister Pies along with a drink. HoS often have open mic nights and live music, as well as DJs at the weekend.
Toast
Toast is one of the newer cafe/bars in Tynemouth, and although they’re more of a cafe through the day they do have a bar licence for later in the day, when they serve beers, wines and cocktails. There are various seating options including at the bar, high bar tables, and bench tables inside, or tables outside on the terrace.

The Salutation
Always popular at weekends as they have so many TVs for the sport and football, the Salutation is dog friendly in their beer garden. There are sheltered areas here with some private huts and booths that also have their own TVs and heaters in case its cold. They have a typical pub menu, and a big bar with all the usual drinks on offer.
The Gibraltar Rock
If you’ve come into Tynemouth from the coast then the Gibraltar Rock is the first pub you’ll come to right on the front overlooking the Priory and King Edwards Bay. Its in a great spot and is dog friendly in some areas inside, and the beer garden outside.
Ora
In the summer Ora is a great bar as they pull back the glass front windows so its open onto the street. A lovely spot for cocktails as that side of the street is always in the sun, and you can enjoy it with your dog if you’re sitting outside. They do have a canopy for the less sunny days too.
The Turks Head
A traditional pub that is always filled with locals having a pint, the Turks Head is one of the closest pubs to Tynemouth Priory, and is also very dog friendly. They serve decent food, and always show the day’s sport, so you could take your dog along for that.
Atelier
Another very new bar in Tynemouth, Atelier, has just opened in June 2022, and can be found in the Land of Green Ginger, or the church on Front Street. They’re a cafe and a bar serving coffee and cocktails, and your dog is welcome too. They’re right next to the pet shop in there too.
Tynemouth Surf Cafe
Right on the seafront, Tynemouth Surf Cafe may be a small cafe but it’s also a bar later in the day with a few beers on offer. They are very dog friendly, and have some outside seating. You might get lucky and hear some live performers too.
Rileys Fish Shack
A hugely popular spot at the coast, Riley’s Fish Shack is right on King Edward’s Bay beach, and you can reserve seats in the shack or deck chairs with fire pits on the beach. This beach doesn’t allow dogs in the summer, so it’s a bit pointless taking your dog down all the steps when they can’t run off onto the beach, but from September to May they are allowed and welcome here.
Enjoy visiting the coast with your dog, there’s nowhere better for them to run around and burn off some energy. With all these dog friendly pubs in Tynemouth you can have a well earned pint at the end of your walk with them too.
