Big game tonight! 🖤🤍

ad| and only one place to go to before the match... @stjamesstack is the official NUFC fanzone and is the perfect spot to get amongst the build up and atmosphere before kick off.

They have sing a longs - all the usual favourites, football quizzes and best Toon goals ever on the big screen, team announcements and plenty of food and drinks to choose from. It’s family friendly and a good laugh with plenty of seating.

My go to is always @brackburger and a pint of Aspalls, (not that it ever calms the nerves 😳)

There’s been some amazing nights under the lights at St James’ the last few years and I’m praying tonight is another one 🙏🏼 I’ll be saluting every magpie I see today 🫡

Hope everyone’s backing the lads tonight and they get to Wembley. Howay the lads!!! 🖤🤍

Mini Itinerary: Park View Whitley Bay 🛍️

I miss living round the corner from here! But I’m not too far away and always love a mooch along my faves. Pay them all a visit, but I’d probably suggest going on a Wed-Sat as they aren’t all open on Sundays - Tuesdays.

🐾 All are dog friendly (Project Pizza until 4pm), all are local businesses run by lovely people.

🚗 Parking on Park View itself is limited to one hour, highly annoying especially if you’re there for food so then you have to go down one of the side streets and pay - Ringo location 5872

Have yourself a canny day!

SGC 💕 - a frequent message in my dms, this one

SGC 💕 - a frequent message in my dms, this one was actually from one of my good friends who had been given a pass for a night or two away from the husband and little one for some ‘me time’. Peace, sleep, views, quiet, hot tub was the request so ask and you shall receive!

I’ve stayed at all of these bar one but it’s on my list:

1. @restatthenest they have luxury treehouses and waterside lodges all with hot tubs
2. @thetempus_charltonhall have a range of rooms with hot tubs including The Lookout pictured and farmhouse room 6, i’ve stayed in both they’re gorgeous and restaurant/bar on site
3. @westfieldhutsnorthumberland glamping huts, very cute and cosy, en suite, lovely views and they now have hot tubs
4. Sunset Studio @blossom_plantation overlooking the lake, some of their others also have hot tubs but this was one of the nicest
5. @runafarm_ have hotel rooms with hot tubs and the views over the countryside were beautiful
6. @whitekirk_hill_ this A frame lodge was fabulous in North Berwick I loved my stay here
7. @thesnugotterburn actually sleeps 5 but I had the cosiest weekend here and the hot tub sunk into the deck is private and so relaxing
8. Newton Walk Northumberland, I had a lovely stay here when they first opened but i’ll be honest I’ve heard some mixed reviews since
9. South Causey Inn Hot Tub- this one’s on my list they have themed hot tub suites
10. @woodlandchaseglamping cabins have wood fired hot tubs I really enjoyed my stay here it didn’t feel like glamping
11. Kielder Lodges have hot tubs and a bar and restaurant on site, as well as Kielder on your doorstep
12. Percy Wood Country Park have caravans and lodges some with hot tubs, as do a lot of other caravan parks including Felton, Seahouses etc

I will also say for a solo break hot tubs do drive the price up compared to other rooms or accommodations as you might expect, but you can’t beat plonking yourself in one with a glass of wine!

Sunday Sanctuary 💆🏻‍♀️

Most of my January looked like this if I’m honest, comfortable, cosy, chilled and at home. I’ve made the most of it before life gets very busy and lots of travel soon.

Here’s my tips for cutting out the overstimulation:

📱 don’t scroll, I never do this but I do set time to binge specific content I enjoy. Ive muted or unfollowed anything negative or salesy, I just don’t want to see it. And that may be a privilege because i’m able to block certain things out but that’s what I’m doing. I call it social media consumption with intent and it’s much healthier
☕️ don’t begrudge yourself your vices, coffee and wine, I did not do dry January but I have ate much healthier
📚 read, i’m trying to do more this year rather than just on holiday
🎧 noise cancelling headphones, literally cut out the noise one of my favourite purchases this month
🗓️ time planning and blocking, I planned my life on 1st Jan and it’s made a huge difference to my daily overthinking
🎨 be creative where you thrive, paint, draw, write, take photographs, music, whatever it is throw yourself into it

I’m also really enjoying the comfort creators on social media, the real ones though, people without perfectly styled homes, they dont have perfect feeds, they don’t buy the latest trends or viral purchases just normal life and you know what it seems to me they’re much happier people.

Tynemouth Market’s had a glow up ✨

In my opinion anyway, it’s still the same market but I’ve noticed there’s some good new stalls and food spots since the start of the year - including the crumble pots!

@crumbling_uk are there every Sunday and this is a big win if you ask me, they’ve got more toppings than the stall did at the Christmas market 🤤

There’s some new jewellery, homeware and art/photography traders too. It’s always a good vibe walking through and there’s a definite spring/Valentines theme at the moment.

One of my favourite ways to spend a weekend morning at the coast 🩵

I am always asked this question in my dms and I think it’s so nice when guys message because they want to surprise their girlfriend how CANNY 🥹 Effort 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 attractive 👏🏼

Anyway, obviously it depends on personal taste but if I was wine-ing and dining on date night, these would be the venues I think deliver a consistently good experience—excellent food, impeccable service, and a good atmosphere for this kind of date night 🍷

So forget the Valentine’s Day gimmicks and special set menus for marketing clout under foil red balloons and overpriced roses, these places are all about quality, for a great date night any time of year, whether it’s your first date or your fiftieth, or of course a galentines or solo date night with yourself, these are my picks 🖤🤍

Baker in the Bay! 🥖

Their new premises on Whitley Road has been open a few months, I popped in this week and got a sourdough and after seeing it also had to grab a chunk of the olive and sea salt focaccia 🫒 it was stunnnnning 🤤

It is a bit on the spenny side compared to others, £5 a loaf whatever it is, but you can get a loyalty card and collect the stamps for a free one.

They also had some unreal looking cinnamon rolls on the counter that took a lot of willpower to resist, and any left from the previous day go down to half price.

I do love places like this that do well then expand it’s so nice to see. Pay them a visit!

At the coast my favourite uber eats are @sushi.me.rollin - this was the ‘Spice Up Your Life’ with salmon, and tuna maki 🍣

Others frequently offered are BrackBurger, Scream for Pizza and Pablo Eggs Go Bao 🛵

🚨 Stay safe during the storm and don’t be daft going near the sea it’s madness how many times the lifeguards been called just the last few weeks!

Arthur loves a walk but being a pug he can’t do big hikes, so we go for fairly easy, mostly flat walks and definitely a pub or cafe at the end. He was always the dog for me 😂

All these have that and even the ones slightly further away from the coast or Newcastle can be done in a day or half a day trip.

There were lots of details like parking postcodes and cafe recommendations that can’t fit into a reel so there’s a blog post coming with all that info in I’ll share once it’s up 🐾

The Potted Lobster 🦞 Bamburgh

If I’m asked what my favourite restaurant is, this is definitely top 3. I rarely say anywhere is ‘the best’ but I’ve yet to find a better seafood spot - and there’s some cracking ones on the North East coast 🌊

We went for lunch during our girls weekend to Bamburgh and as always it was amazing. We had:

To start: Lindisfarne oysters, an entire sourdough with salted butter served warm, gambas pil pil, smoked haddock chowder, and Beth had another starter off the specials board I can’t remember what - something with chorizo.

For main courses two of us had the lobster with garlic butter👌🏼🤤 and the others had two of the daily fish specials from the board. These change depending on the catch of the day.

With no designated driver needed we washed it down with a bottle of Whispering ✨ 10/10 immaculate vibes

If you’ve not been and enjoy seafood you must go, it has a dog friendly area, outside seating in summer and books up weeks in advance.

Newcastle to North Yorkshire 🛣️

ad| At the weekend Arthur and I went for a quiet, country escape to Masham, North Yorkshire, where we stayed at the Kings Head, a @chefandbrewer pub with excellent dog friendly rooms and facilities.

Masham itself was gorgeous, quaint little streets and local shops. The Kings Head is right on the main town square so after checking in we went for our evening walk around the town, found the Theakston Brewery, and back through the churchyard for golden hour.

From countryside to fireside, the pub was so cosy to warm up in afterwards, with a real local welcoming atmosphere and a menu full of traditional British favourites. Exactly what you need in a freezing cold January!

Arthur snoozed on a blanket while I tucked in to the steak and ale pie with mash and gravy👌🏼 I would go back just for that again I’ve been talking about it ever since.

After a lovely hotel breakfast the next day we pottered around the town for a while, sadly I wasn’t there for market day though, before checking out and heading to nearby Richmond for a river walk along by Richmond Falls.

The Kings Head was perfect for me and Arthur, far enough away for a change of scenery but not too far - it took just over an hour to get there. Plenty of scenic country walks nearby, good pub scran and the Yorkshire hospitality that never disappoints.

Chef & Brewer have pubs all over the UK that fit with this same character, and I’d absolutely stay with them again.

🛎️ lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for you, and they love dogs!
🥾 lots of walking routes and trails, including the Masham leaf trail, circular walks through other nearby towns, Richmond Falls, Fountains Abbey and close to the Yorkshire Dales
📍 you could also visit towns like Harrogate, Thirsk, Ripon and Richmond
🐾 blankets, treats and bowls in the pub

I went for breakfast and was a big fan of the Scott stack breakfast in a bun, extra side of hashy bs obviously followed by Bloody Mary’s and mimosas 🍹

SGC 💕 how to go solo glamping!

If you’re not yet travelling solo then glamping is a good place to start. Trips like this with Arthur are some of my favourite ones to do especially if you get somewhere really good, more ‘glam’ than ‘camping’!

Here’s my tips for solo glamping, it is harder than you think practically until you get used to it, I still have flashbacks to trying to scramble up a muddy hill in the rain with a wheelbarrow and Arthur.
