Things I’m Loving This Week 21st – 27th March 2021
I’m ready for it to be April. I’ve not had a bad week but March has gone on forever and I’m so excited to be able to meet up with people outdoors again from tomorrow. I cant wait to see my friends later this week! Before I start looking forwards again here’s what I’ve been loving this week.
After our ten mile walk for Alzheimer’s last Saturday, Sunday really was a day of rest. My legs were killing and we had a chilled out Sunday, with the real highlight being the return of Line of Duty on Sunday night. The first episodes of the series are always the same, with a lot of new characters, complicated acronyms to figure out and a general setting the scene episode. So I can’t wait for tonight’s to see how it develops.
Arthur still can’t walk too far after his op which has been a bit difficult being stuck inside, but I’ve been loving all the extra cuddles I’ve been getting, and we had a waddle down to the sea front for a Di Meo’s ice cream. It’s busy always but I’m sure it will be even busier when the crowds flock to the coast from tomorrow again.
I set my alarm last week for the next release of the Good Tempered Chocolate Company’s Easter chocolates, and got myself some more of their chocolate slabs and the dark chocolate marzipan Easter eggs. I’m really trying to continue to support local businesses even once normal shops reopen as they’ve given me so much happiness during lockdowns getting deliveries and treats to my doorstep.
The marzipan eggs were delicious, I ate one as soon as the order arrived and had the other one yesterday, Kieran didn’t get a look in. I’ve also ordered some brownies from the Great British Cupcakery for next weekend.
A big highlight this week was my girl Hannah hitting 1k on her blog instagram The Wedding Taylor. I’ve been very invested in her blogging journey since she first told me she wanted to do it just over a year ago. She’s done amazing, and I’ve never known anyone so committed to weddings and helping out the brides that follow her especially during a time when weddings have been paused for so long.
So many of my friends follow her and find her a fountain of knowledge and support, and she hit 1k this week. She’s celebrating with a huge giveaway. If you’re interested check out her instagram to enter. I’m really excited to be contributing a guest blog for her in the coming fortnight, but will keep the topic under wraps for now!
Which brings me on to the past year as a whole, as we all marked the 23rd March as a day of reflection and remembrance for what we’ve all been through. I shared my thoughts on it all on instagram, the post is below but I think it’s nice to acknowledge the positive and the happy things as well as of course all the sadness and loss.
It seems that international travel still isn’t a certainty for this summer, and I couldn’t hold off on travel blogs anymore as they really are my passion, so instead I’ll be focusing on the UK for a while longer. I shared a guide to Ambleside earlier in the week, with a lot of info on everything you need to know for a holiday there. It covers where to stay, things to do, restaurants and cafes to visit and much more.
Take a look especially if the Lake District isn’t somewhere you’ve spent much time previously.
I’ve not watched too much Netflix this week, we finished all the episodes of Jack Whitehall’s Travel with my Father which is so funny, and I’ve been getting through the later seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. We’ve also been watching the new episodes of The World’s Toughest Prisons which is so interesting.
This week has been my last full week working at DFDS. I have three days to go this week but I had a zoom leaving drinks call on Friday with my team which was lovely. Having been there 5 years there are a lot of memories I’d forgotten about, so it’s been nice to catch up with people before I leave. I’m really excited to start my new job, but I am sad after so long at a place I’ve enjoyed.
This weekend so far has been pretty chilled. We had some drinks yesterday including some beers from Block n Bottle in Heaton. If you’ve not heard of it it’s a butchers but they also sell a lot of craft beer, and organic wines so I had a good browse of their fridges and came away with a few on Friday. Their bacon was delicious this morning too.
The rest of today is going to be spent continuing my spring cleaning, and then a good tea tonight – tacos from Lobo Rojo before Line of Duty. I love Sundays.
Have a great week – especially now we can see more people, I’m so excited!
