Things I’m Loving This Week 6th-12th September
It goes without saying this has been one of the best weeks of the year for me, spending it in the Lakes. I could list a lot of things from our week there that I’ve loved but I’ll save most of them for specific blogs about it – of course there are a few coming. I have included the odd things though so here’s some of the things I’ve been loving this week.
Where we were staying has a pool, hot tub, sauna and gym that you could book for private use. Each morning we went for a swim and jacuzzi and it was the most relaxing way to start the day. We also booked it a couple of evenings too after long walks or busy days to unwind.
We spent a day in Ambleside and I picked up quite a few things from some of the little shops, including a face mask from The Bath House that I had recommended. I used their hand sanitiser through lockdown when you couldn’t get any anywhere. It’s such a lovely natural shop.
Last Sunday we walked around Buttermere lake followed by Sunday dinner at The Bridge Hotel. My family used to stay here every October half term when we were kids so it was nice to be back, take Arthur for a walk and enjoy the really good food.
We visit the Lakes Distillery on Thursday and although we didn’t do the tour, we did eat at the on site Bistro, which I really enjoyed. We got a bottle of elderflower Lakes gin too which we’ve had every night since. Also loved seeing the Alpacas in the field behind.
Yesterday was a lot of fun as we celebrated our friends little girl Aurora’s 1st birthday, with a Disney themed drop in party. Kieran and I went as the genie and Jasmine. It was a great afternoon with our friends up in Warkworth and as always Hannah delivered with party set up, thought out details and one hell of a spread.
Remember her name because she has something exciting coming that I’ll be sharing soon!
My hair straighteners decided to break on the last day of our holiday, and being an absolute essential I made Kieran drive us straight to John Lewis from the Lakes to get a new pair. I can’t really complain as I had them for YEARS they last for so long, so I just replaced them with the same GHD Max ones. I’m now glad they broke there is such a difference in the latest ones I absolutely love them.
Trying to get some food on Friday after the drive home was ridiculous, everywhere had a huge wait time and two nandos restaurants declined our takeaway order as the kitchens were so busy. I was fully hangry but Lola Jeans in Tynemouth delivered the goods with their burgers. I have never enjoyed a burger so much in my life they really are deserving winners of all the burger of the year awards they keep winning.
As students and unis go back this week I keep thinking about my experience at Leeds all those years ago and how much has changed in my life since then. That’s a post for another day but thanks to Facebook I’m still in touch with and seeing what some of the things people I went to uni with are doing.
Maybe it’s the course I did but quite a few of the girls have blogs or frequently guest blog, and I really enjoyed one of them this week. Sophie wrote for London lifestyle blog Whatever Your Dose, on not ignoring red flags, and I think it’s pretty good.
Have a great week!
