Meet Me On The Corner Cafe & Bistro WHitley Bay
Meet Me On The Corner is one of the newest cafes to open in Whitley Bay, in May 2022. Find it on the corner of Ilfracombe Gardens, so just before you reach Park View, with free on street parking right outside. A family run cafe serving breakfast, lunch and a lovely cocktail selection as they’re licensed, it’s a lovely spot in central Whitley Bay.
Meet Me On The Corner – Opening Hours
MMOTC is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am on weekdays and 9:30am on weekends, closing at 4:30pm every day. They have a few menus throughout the day and week depending on when you visit, and it’s already proving to be a really popular spot so if you’re interested in visiting and have a preferred time, I would book by ringing ahead or messaging on Instagram.
It’s also a great spot to call into if you’re passing on a walk around Whitley Bay, or to or from the seafront. They have quite a few inside tables, as well as tables outside and some under their outside pergola.
The staff are really friendly and welcoming and will show you to your table, all of which are dog friendly. It isn’t table service though, so you do have to order at the counter once you’ve made your choice. The whole cafe is done out beautifully, with plenty of little locally inspired details such as paintings, artwork and framed quotes on the wall.
Meet Me On The Corner Menus
The Meet Me On The Corner breakfast is served from opening until 11:30am, and there’s plenty of choice including traditional breakfast buns – bacon, sausage and eggs etc, eggs benedict and a few other variations, pancakes, a halloumi hash, and steak and eggs. Lots of egg choices basically, but they also do gluten free and vegan options too.
You can get a full English or a vegan full English if you’re hungry. I had the poached eggs on sourdough toast, and it was delicious. The sourdough was really soft which is hard to come by, I always end up wrestling with it.
Drinks wise there is a big coffee and tea selection, as well as smoothies, juices and milkshakes. There are syrups so if you need your vanilla iced coffee fix like I do then you’re sorted!
If you are just visiting for coffee, there is a big glass counter when you first go in filled with the cakes and tray bakes available that day, all of which look ridiculously good. Proper sliced cakes are also on the counter if you’d rather a slab of one of those, as well as both fruit and savoury scones which they will warm up for you.
The menu changes for lunch and there are a range of options available here. Some of the choices include pasta, a New York style burger, mussels in sauce with bread, and on Sunday’s you can also get a full Sunday roast. You can also get anything to takeaway, if you’d rather eat it on the beach for example.
Doggos aren’t left out, they have pupcakes smothered in peanut butter available for dogs, and you’ll have to get your pooch papped by the staff to go on their polaroid dog wall. There are dog bowls of water outside, and they will provide you with one inside if you need it.
As a licensed bistro, Meet Me On The Corner can also serve alcohol including gin cocktails, beers and bottles of wine. They stock Sea Change wine which is an environmentally conscious line of wines that contribute to ocean conservation. Ideal for being in such a seaside based town.
And if all that isn’t enough they also do giant ice cream sundaes with various toppings, if you’d prefer one of those to a meal or cake. They’re constantly adding treats and variations to the menu so have a look on the day.
Despite being so new they’re already quite a well oiled machine, with efficient service and we didn’t wait long for our food at all. I think the only thing that could improve it is if it was table service, as the queue for the counter could get quite long due to the number of tables they have, and there isn’t much space inside.
Meet Me On The Corner, Whitley Bay is a great new addition, and I love that they’re open Sundays as quite a few on Park View aren’t. The parking has become a bit of a nightmare on Park View too now it’s limited to an hour, so it’s nice not to have to worry about that either.
You can keep up to date with what they’re doing and new additions to the menu by following Meet Me On The Corner Whitley Bay on Instagram here.
