Newcastle Instagram Accounts to Follow
If there’s one thing I love about Instagram, it’s seeing incredible photography of my favourite places, as well as places I’ve not yet been to. This I suppose is exactly what instagram was originally intend to be, a photography showcase, plain and simple, before bloody Facebook got it’s hands on it. When you see so many incredible destinations far and wide, you can often overlook how amazing the city you see every day is. That’s why I follow so many Newcastle Instagram accounts.
There are of course LOADS of instagram users in Newcastle, people, businesses, bloggers, brands, sports teams…chances are most of your favourites will have an account. But what about the city photographers, the ones that capture all of the landmarks, streets and quirks that make Newcastle the place we love to call home.
I’ve put together this little collection of my favourites, the ones who never fail to make me fall in love with the Tyne Bridge no matter how many times I see it, or Grey Street, or St James Park, the list goes on.
David Hall @nostalgia_kid
I LOVE this account, it’s one of my absolute favourites. As well as capturing the recognisable sights, he shares photos of people going about their daily lives and experiments with different styles and colours (he’s currently going through a black and white phase). I follow so many people I definitely don’t see everyones photos in my feed, but this is one account I always remember to actively search for.

Newcastle Views @newcastle_views
An account that shares predominantly photos of the river and the bridges, Newcastle Views will give you a daily fix of the best bridge photos taken by other people. They fully credit the original photographer, but share the best of the best in once place. Send them yours to see if you get featured.
Newcastle Uncovered @newcastleuncovered
This account shares a mix of past and present photos of Newcastle, as well as the odd humorous geordie post and a fair few on the football team to mix it up a bit too. My favourites are the throwbacks from the city archives, like this one of Northumberland Street in the 1970’s.
Get into Newcastle @newcastlene1
Get into Newcastle for most people is a source of everything current happening in the city, and their Instagram is no exception. Whether it’s a new bar opening, the Geordie Jackpot, famous visitors to the city or an event happening they have it covered. A good one to know what’s going on!
Newcastle Gateshead @mykindoftoon
The official tourist board of Newcastle and Gateshead share fabulous photos of the region, and encourage you to do the same with their hashtags #newcastlegateshead and #thetyneisnow.
Instagrammers Newcastle @igersnewcastleuk
A relatively small account ran by two locals but I like how in amongst the bridges and cityscapes they share the odd hidden gem, or unique spot.

Toon Photography @toonphotography
You’re bound to recognise this guy if you’re on Twitter, and a Newcastle fan. His photography is incredible, and I’ve bought a couple off him myself. His photos are Newcastle city centre, and a fair few of St James Park too. His instagram is a bit more personal, so also covered beach walks at the coast with his dog, and his travels (his NYC photos are worth a look too), but his speciality is the toon and you really should be following.
Newcastle Eats @newc_eats
Constantly sharing mouthwatering images of the best places to eat in Newcastle, this is a great account to follow for some food inspo.
So those are my favourite general Newcastle instagram accounts. But what if you want a more personal touch? Over the past year I’ve met, worked with and enjoyed a lot of events with some of the best bloggers in Newcastle. They’re all completely different and have their own styles and topics to blog about. I’d list them all if I could, but a couple of stand out accounts for me include:
Jennifer Hellen @hellojenniferhelen – putting the colour into Newcastle, her account is always bright and beautiful.
Chloe @newgirlintoon – Chloe is an honorary Geordie, and I’ve never met anyone who appreciates moving to Newcastle as much. She shares a mix of photos including the city, restaurants and some personal ones. Get to know her better.
Pixie @pixietenenbaum – fashion blogger with famous brows and an attitude I love!
I’m too scared to list any more as I know I’ll forget someone, but the list of local bloggers is extensive and they all have great accounts. If you’re interested to know who they are – family, fashion, beauty, travel or lifestyle focussed let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction.
Do you have a beautiful Newcastle instagram I should be following? Make yourself known!
