It is dangerous how close this is to me,a lunch break game changer.

The Northern Rye bakehouse is where they make all of the products that go to their shops. You can see everything being made by the team of bakers, as well as pick up your own order from the counter - including fresh sandwiches and toasties.

I resisted the pastries and went for a cheese and caramelised onion sourdough toastie it was divine! 🤤 it’s dog friendly as well Arthur enjoyed the attention.

I was asked if I’d create a North East reel using this folk song as the soundtrack.

Written and performed by local writers and musicians - it’s called ‘Minstrel Michaela’ and is about a man who lives in the countryside and one day meets a female travelling musician. She stays a while to write some songs inspired by the nature around her, then moves on, leaving him wondering if their paths will ever cross again.

Kork wine & deli 🍷🧀

This lovely spot is on Whitley Road and I’d been meaning to visit for so long. They’re an organic wine and deli bar and shop, so me and Arthur sat in for a glass of wine and some small plates last week.

🫒 I got the chorizo croquettes that just melted 🤤 some giant olives and then doubled up on the chorizo with the iberico sobrassada (like a chorizo pate) with honey on sourdough which was also divine.

🧀 The cheese boards also looked great I’ll be going back for one served with crackers and chutney, and they have most of what they serve available to buy from the deli counters and fridges.

🍷 A big selection of wines and they have a selection available by the glass too. A great spot I should have visited much sooner but will definitely be back again.

A newly single friend said to me she finds Sundays the hardest, and as always regardless of relationship status if you live alone or spend a lot of time on your own or even not at all I’m sure everyone’s had a case of the sunday scaries at some point.

Sundays are my favourite day of the week, so this weeks post is about reclaiming your Sundays, enjoying them to yourself and turning them into your own personal power day.

Long Friday, Jesmond 🍸

And they delivered one of the best spicy margs in the Toon!

Not even joking, they were like smoky spicy margs. Delicious.

Can I also just say, the BBQ’d steak in shallot butter and bone marrow crumb was the stuff of dreams. Literally mouthwatering. I also had the cured mackerel with apple and dressing, and the grilled Northern Rye foccaccia on the side.

A very solid 10/10 solo lunch date 🤤

Big game tonight! 🖤🤍

ad| and only one place to go to before the match... @stjamesstack is the official NUFC fanzone and is the perfect spot to get amongst the build up and atmosphere before kick off.

They have sing a longs - all the usual favourites, football quizzes and best Toon goals ever on the big screen, team announcements and plenty of food and drinks to choose from. It’s family friendly and a good laugh with plenty of seating.

My go to is always @brackburger and a pint of Aspalls, (not that it ever calms the nerves 😳)

There’s been some amazing nights under the lights at St James’ the last few years and I’m praying tonight is another one 🙏🏼 I’ll be saluting every magpie I see today 🫡

Hope everyone’s backing the lads tonight and they get to Wembley. Howay the lads!!! 🖤🤍
