A luxury apartment stay in Bamburgh ✨

ad| You don’t get many places like this right in the middle of historic Northumberland towns, especially Bamburgh. @theapartmentbamburgh was our fabulous stay at the weekend, taking up the entire floor above @themiddleinnbamburgh it’s been beautifully converted into a self catering apartment. (discount code at the end)

It honestly had everything and it really made our weekend so relaxing, comfortable and easy:

🛌 Two big bedrooms, a gorgeous master with dressing table, tv, walk in dressing area and en suite bathroom, and a second double that could be made into a twin, also with dressing table, tv and wardrobe
☕️ Kitchen with a dining table, smeg fridge, coffee machine, and literally everything in those cupboards you could need for eating in, families (kids plates and cutlery provided) and groups. There was a separate utility with washing machine
🛋️ A big living room also with dining area, corner sofa, TV, window seat overlooking Bamburgh. Board games, wifi, netflix etc all included
🐾 dog friendly with a big bed and bowls provided
🚗 free parking right outside this was a dream for carrying all our stuff and shopping
🧺 the details were also very well thought of for a Northumberland stay, a picnic basket for summer, two golf umbrellas provided, shoe rack for muddy/sandy shoes, just lots of little conveniences
🍻 it’s right above the pub, you don’t even need to leave the building to get a pint or glass of wine, we had some bar snacks by the fire our first night which was lovely. And their beer garden out the back in summer

I can’t recommend this place enough, I think it will book up so far in advance, especially in such an incredible central location. It was a 1 minute walk to the Potted Lobster, Lord Crewe, local butcher and tea rooms all on the same street. And Bamburgh Castle and beach right on the doorstep too.

ad| For @newcastlene1 restaurant week last night we went to @doodncl on the quayside, I’d been wanting to try it since it opened. It’s gorgeous in there, across three floors overlooking the river.

To start we had hummus and pita, olivier salad of new potatoes, shredded chicken and a greek yoghurt dressing, and padron peppers in chilli - they were my favourite 👌🏼

Mains we shared the chicken kebab marinaded in saffron, and the grilled spiced lamb, with Persian rice and chips. It was all delicious and really good sized portions. I think it will be a popular spot as it was very authentic, and the staff were so lovely.

Last week I went to The Cove in Tynemouth and had some drinks and a few small plates. It’s had a full refit since it used to be Ora, and I think it’s much nicer with a bigger bar and more seating downstairs. It’s also now dog friendly which is great as Ora never was except outside.

We had the calamari, chicken goujons and the garlic prawns and they were all great, with wine and I tried the signature Cove cocktail which was bright blue and tasted like coconut. I’d necked it before I thought to take a pic though sorry!

They have a new menu, and I spotted they also now do tasting events with paired wine flights which I’d really like to try some time.

NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week 2025!

Always a good week in an otherwise boring month, @newcastlene1 restaurant week is back from next Monday 13th January.

I’m excited for what I’ve got booked but places are filling up fast so don’t leave it too late if you fancy somewhere.

Two new hot chocolate cafes in Newcastle! ☕️

Since both of these places opened recently, I’ve tried the exact same order at both Hotel Chocolat cafe in Eldon Square, and Knoops by Monument, and this is what I found:

• Both have really big menus, with lots of flavours, strengths, hot or cold serves, toppings and milk choices. It’s actually quite overwhelming!
• Both have space to sit in, and both do takeaway
• The staff in Hotel Chocolat were lovely, and they do a discount loyalty card with I think 20% off that you get every time.
• Knoops are more aesthetic if that matters to you and in a great location with the big windows, I find indoors in Eldon Square a bit dingy. But that spot by Monument does always seem to be cursed!

Price wise I paid £3.95 at Hotel Chocolat for my order and £9 at Knoops! Even without the discount at Hotel Chocolat it’s significantly cheaper.

Being totally honest - it tasted nicer at Knoops, despite the OTT price. I would still go occasionally, and I’d like to try their cold ones when we aren’t in minus temps.

For this first one of the new year I’ve gone with a January theme and combined wellbeing activities with group activities, so all events you can go to alone but they’re done as a group, everything from sea dips to dance classes, sober tasting sessions to guided hikes and more.

2024 💫 ‘You look happy’ was the biggest a

2024 💫

‘You look happy’ was the biggest and most repeated compliment given to me this year. Don’t get me wrong this is a highlight reel, there were some low points (and some highs) not featured, but overall I absolutely am.

I know this time of year can be really hard for people especially if you aren’t where you thought you’d be in life, trust me I have been there myself in the past. There’s a big shift happening though, you don’t need all the typical things to be happy. And you never know what’s waiting just around the corner…

Ive had some amazing trips - work, personal and blog, new places I’d always wanted to visit and favourites to go back to, valuable time spent with old friends, met some pretty amazing new ones, celebrated some big occasions with people i love, all the good stuff etccccc

Personally I love the little moments, time spent doing the walks and iced coffees, the laughs, the sunrises, the drone flights at 4am, the Toon on match day and time with my little Arthur.

I hope that’s come across in all my posts this year, I took the pressure off myself, shared what I liked, said no to a lot to make way for saying yes to things I really wanted to do, because although I share a lot I’ll never be someone who does it ‘just for the gram.’

I feel very lucky to be able to do that just because I enjoy it.
