Allards Tynemouth

The Tynemouth branch of Allards has a double front terrace, with plenty of tables and a canopy that can provide shade or shelter from the rain depending on the weather. These tables are for walk ins, and they serve drinks and food here throughout the day.

Dogs are welcome in all of this outside section and there’s plenty of water bowls for them. As one of the most popular and busy restaurants with outdoor seating in Tynemouth at all times of day, for their breakfast menu and generous tapas portions, the terrace is usually pretty busy especially in the summer.

The Salutation pub never changes, and as well as a few tables for two out the front, there is quite a big beer garden out the back. There are plenty of picnic benches and more sheltered huts that come with their own heaters and TVs.

A good spot to watch the sport, it gets pretty busy here in this sun trap. Dogs are allowed outside in this area too.

The Priory

The Priory pub has one of the biggest areas of outdoor seating in Tynemouth that is out the front. It stretches right along the front and around the corner, and is fenced off rather than on the open path.

On the right side of the road to get the sun it often fills up first and earlier in the day than the other spots. Drinks are good value and they serve pub food.

The Wine Chambers

What may look like a wine and bottle shop in Tynemouth with a couple of outside tables at the front, is actually a secret wine garden out the back.

Enjoy a drink with some nibbles in Tynemouth’s best kept secret.

Pleased To Meet You

Taking up the bar that was one Hugo’s, Pleased to Meet You has given it a lick of paint and now has the PTMY menu. There are quite a few tables out the front where you can sit and enjoy a bottle of wine or beer.

Ora

Sitting outside of the front of Ora is lovely especially in the sun, as there is a fenced off area with a few tables, and on warmer days they pull back the full glass doors so the front of the bar is open.

There is a canopy too in case it’s needed, it gets quite warm in the sun, and it’s table service so you don’t even need to go to the bar.

Dil & the Bear

This boutique cafe is gorgeous for coffee and cake, or lunch from their varied menu. Their outside space is small but just as cute, with little wrought iron tables.

If you have a dog you can only sit outside with them, but they do have a canopy that provides shade and shelter.

Woods

Woods cafe on the corner have quite one of the biggest areas of outdoor seating in Tynemouth, certainly the biggest of all the cafes. It’s basic but there are a lot of picnic benches so you can order at the hatch and then pull up a pew.

A popular one for people coming off the beach due to its location right on the corner.

Crusoes

The beach cafe at Tynemouth Longsands has a big outdoor terrace, that you can sit at after ordering from their takeaway hatch. They also have deck chairs on the sand too, and it’s a gorgeous spot to enjoy the view.

This end of the beach also bans dogs during the summer.

The Surf Cafe may be small but the grass space to the side of the run of shops has picnic tables and fire pits where you can sit and enjoy the view right over the beach. Brack Burger are opening right next door to the Surf Cafe in July 2022 as well.

Dibbleys

Dibbleys cafe on Percy Street have a fenced off outdoor section, where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or one of their ice creams. They have a huge selection of flavours, and it’s sometimes not quite as busy as the main Front Street.

Regular Jo’s

A small cafe recently opened in June 2022, Regular Jos began as a coffee cart in Tynemouth market, but they’ve recently expanded to their own premises. It’s pretty small, but there are two picnic tables and a bench seat available outside.

Fish & Chip Shops With Outdoor Seating In Tynemouth

Marshall’s & Longsands Fish Kitchen

Both of the best fish and chip spots have a small amount of outdoor seating on Front Street. There are benches outside of Longsands but no proper tables, and Marshall’s have a few picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy your takeaway.

Riley’s Fish Shack

Down on the beach of King Edwards Bay, Riley’s is very open and has plenty of deck chairs and umbrellas on the beach. It’s more than just a fish and chip shop although they do serve them, it’s more a full menu of delicious sea food. You need to book in advance to get these and pay a deposit, which comes off your food bill.

In the summer months dogs aren’t allowed on this beach so unfortunately you can’t take them down there with you. Off peak they can go down there, but you might need to get a fire pit as the weather gets cooler.

Book your deck chairs for Rileys online here.

Platform 2

Not quite outside as they are under the cover of Tynemouth Station, but Platform 2 do have seating out here. A great micro pub that serve a range of beers and wines, it’s one for all weathers.

It’s fair to say that most of the hospitality venues have outdoor seating in Tynemouth, in some way, shape or form. Some are pretty basic with just some picnic benches, but others are more sheltered and have proper lighting, heaters and canopies to cope with the changing weather at the coast.
