Signature Lounge In Whitley Bay – Cafe, Restaurant & Wine Bar
Signature Lounge in Whitley Bay opened its doors towards the end of 2021, as a coffee and wine bar on Park View. What in theory sounds like just somewhere to have a drink after you’ve had an appointment with your estate agent, is actually a really nice place to eat and drink whether that’s the case or not.
Signature Lounge position themselves as delivering the exceptional, or going the extra mile as part of the North East community. Park View is the ideal location for it, being the busiest street in Whitley Bay. They’re open daily from 9am – 11pm, which is a bonus as quite a few places on Park View close on Sundays and/or Mondays.
Naturally being born from the Signature brand, a leading North East estate agency, it is gorgeous inside. It has big bright windows letting the light in, plush chairs and booths, glossy table tops and a fancy looking bar. Upstairs is more of the same, so it’s a really comfortable spot to enjoy your breakfast, just a coffee, food or late drinks.
Breakfast at Signature Lounge
Breakfast at Signature Lounge is probably my favourite meal to enjoy there, and I often go on Sundays as it’s one of the only places in Whitley Bay that’s open. Because of this it can get busier late in the morning. The breakfast menu has all the usual suspects, including full english and a vegetarian version, eggs benedict, pancakes, breakfast baps, steak and eggs, and even a breakfast bao.
There are some lighter options too such as porridge, avocado on toast and fresh pastries, and even a breakfast bao with your choice of filling. You can customise any order by adding sides from the long list, and all dishes clearly display nutritional information and adaptations that can be made to suit dietary requirements.
Drinks wise you can get everything, including tea and coffee, fresh juices and breakfast cocktails. I highly recommend the Bloody Mary! Price wise the most expensive dish on the breakfast menu is the full English at just under £12, but overall I’d say it’s reasonably priced in line with other Whitley Bay venues, however portions aren’t huge.
Main Menu at Signature Lounge
The standard main menu is available Monday to Saturday from 12pm, and includes a range of different dishes. For lunch get a sandwich, salad or a wrap, with multiple fillings for each including meat options like steak or chicken, seafood fish and prawn choices, and vegetarian.
I really like the cheese and nibbles section, if you’re fancying some snacks with a drink in the afternoon or evening. They do a baked camembert, olives, cheese and meat platters, and sides such as parmesan fries, onion rings and focaccia to name a few favourites.
For something a bit more substantial you can choose from a wide selection of tapas, from the meat, seafood, vegetable or bao sections. There’s everything from slider burgers and pork belly, to garlic king prawns, mussels and scallops. If you’re a fan of baos you could go for teriyaki beef, soy glazed pork or duck. Round any of your dinner options off with dessert too.

Sunday Lunch at Signature Lounge
From 2022 Signature launched their Sunday Lunch offering, from which you can choose two courses for £19.95 or three for £23.95. The children’s Sunday lunch is £10.95. Choose from a good selection of starters, mains (including vegetarian) and desserts. Sunday lunch is the only meal you can book a table for at Signature.
Although it has only been available since March, I’m hearing good things from people who have been and enjoyed it.

There are quite a lot of micro pubs on Park View and in central Whitley Bay, so it’s nice to have Signature as it’s more of a wine and cocktail bar. They also seem really keen to try new things and develop their menu. In late May they are going to be launching steak and wine nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays for £16.95.
They are also available for event hire, for either the upstairs or the whole venue.
Bookings for Signature Lounge aren’t available on any day other than Sunday, so it’s walk in only, but they do say you’re not likely to wait longer than 5-10 minutes even if it’s busy. Service is always good too, I’ve never had a bad experience.
Personally I’ve never had to wait to be seated, there are plenty of tables and they’re just as nice upstairs as downstairs. They have an outside terrace which does have a cover, and although dogs aren’t allowed indoors they are welcome on the terrace.
If you’re visiting the coast, Signature Lounge is worth a visit. Find out more on their website.
