It’s believed that adding a home office to your house can also add as much as 10% to its value. So, whether you’re staying put and need a functional workspace or you’re selling up soon and want to get the highest price possible, a home office is a must-complete renovation.

To help you put together an excellent home office in your limited space, we’ve put together a handy list of tips for you to follow. Read on to learn how you can create a home office in a small space.

Choosing your space

If you can’t dedicate an entire room to your home office, then you’ll want to make sure you pick a good space to put your office equipment. We recommend avoiding areas that get a lot of traffic in the home such as a dining area or living room as these spaces may bring unwelcome noise when you’re trying to complete your work.

Once you’ve found a space that meets your requirements, you can make it a little more private while you’re working. Simply fence it off using sheets of plasterboard and it’ll feel like its own room for you to work in

Get the right equipment

An office will require a few basic items before it’s ready to use. This includes a computer or laptop, mouse, keyboard and a desk. You’ll also need a comfortable chair that supports your posture, so you don’t up like the many that now have back pain linked to working from home

Lighting

Natural light is known to boost mood, so you’ll need plenty if you’re going to be sitting inside at your desk all day. If your office space already has plenty of light coming in from outside, then great! If it doesn’t though, we recommend buying a natural daylight lamp to emulate the feeling of natural light. This should help to brighten up your space and make you more productive too.

Add extras to give your space personality

Now that you have the basics all setup and your desk in a good spot in your home, it’s time to add a little extra zing to your desk. This will help to make it more stylish and make it feel more personal to you, which may help to keep your spirits high while you try to meet deadlines. Try adding a colourful coaster, a picture of your family or an ornament you love.
